This woman-owned jewelry brand makes the cutest custom necklaces — and they make great gifts for moms

Nothing may be as thoughtful as giving someone a customized gift. Take Tiny Tags, for example.

The custom jewelry brand engraves its pieces with monograms, names, zodiac signs and more. Founder Melissa Clayton started the brand as a new mother looking to share her love for her son with the world. “I couldn’t think of a better way to express all that pride and joy than to wear his name on a necklace,” she writes on her brand’s website. “On a whim, I decided to make my own — and so began Tiny Tags.”

Over 10 years later, Tiny Tags has become a community. I had the opportunity to meet Clayton at an event for the brand, and she told me some of the sweet stories her customers have shared with her. In fact, she has a group of grandmothers who practically have her on speed dial whenever a new grandchild is born — time to add another name to the necklace! Even though Tiny Tags has its own social media editor, Clayton shared she’s often the one answering DMs late at night on Instagram, too. It’s so clear she has a passion for the brand she started and loves her customers.

While Tiny Tags considers itself “fine, personalized jewelry for moms,” I personally picked up its Gold Zodiac Circle Necklace with my Capricorn sign on it. Others at the event chose to get their dog’s name on a Bar Necklace or their own name printed on a Nameplate Necklace à la Carrie Bradshaw. So if you’re not a mom, you can still shop its pretty pieces.

Just from chatting with Clayton, the necklaces definitely seem to be the most popular. You can add multiple names or other customizations throughout the years, too. I love the idea of a special date printed on a bracelet — it could be a great gift for your newlywed best friend or a new mom in your life.

If you have someone on your holiday shopping list in mind, head to Tiny Tags’ website to build a custom piece. Right now, the brand is offering 20% off site-wide when you use code FAMILY20 at checkout, now through Nov. 6. However, Tiny Tags is also sold at Pottery Barn Kids under the “Keepsakes” section.
