Woman, 36, dies after being stabbed in East Dulwich - as man is arrested

A woman has died after being stabbed at a home in East Dulwich.

Police have launched a murder investigation on Saturday after the woman, 36, passed away in hospital.

Officers were called the property in Lordship Lane just after 10pm on Friday night.

They found the victim suffering from stab injuries. She was then taken to hospital for treatment but subsequently died at around 2am.

Work is now underway to locate and inform next of kin and a post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

A 49-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at a south London police station.

While enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing, it is believed that both parties involved were known to each other.

Detectives are in the early stages of this investigation and will be looking to speak to a number of witnesses who live in the area.
