Yahoo Finance Wife walks out of husband’s birthday dinner after he ‘busts out laughing’ at her dress
A husband is under fire for laughing at his wife’s appearance.
She asked Reddit’s “Am I the A******? (AITA)” forum for help. She gained weight due to a medical issue and can no longer fit in her clothes. Her husband demanded she wears one of her old dresses to his birthday party at a restaurant.
When she arrived in the dress, and he saw her in it, he couldn’t stop laughing.
“He busted out laughing….he pointed at the dress and was going hysterical saying ‘oh my God’ I felt so incredibly mad,” she wrote.
The other people in the restaurant realized what he was laughing at and joined. Then, his friend whistled in a “mocking tone.” She and her sister immediately left the restaurant. She went home and cried.
When he returned home, he called her “oversensitive” and told her to go to therapy. He argued that his laughter was a “natural reaction” to seeing her in the dress.
Redditors felt the husband’s behavior was a major red flag.
“He tears you down physically and emotionally. He denies any wrongdoing and blames only you. Why are you with him?” a user wrote.
“He is a cruel bully,” another said.
“His behavior is grounds for divorce,” a TikToker replied.
