Why are Twitter users asking ‘do you regard these men with respect, or disgust?’

People are using a conservative’s bizarre tweet to format a hilarious meme.

In a now-viral tweet, user Erich Hartmann suggested that liberals don’t respect the working class. Hartmann posted random footage of two workers operating equipment.

“This video is a pretty good litmus test for politics: do you regard these men with respect, or disgust?” he asked.

The original video is from a TikTok account seemingly dedicated to employees at an oil field in Texas.

Most people ignored the baseless accusation and went straight to roasting Hartmann’s litmus test. More than dividing anyone, people on Twitter united to turn it all into one big silly joke.

“I just think ‘do you regard these men with respect, or disgust?’ is prolly a fun meme format because it’s ridiculous,” @DistractedAnna joked on Twitter.

“This photo is a pretty good litmus test for politics: do you regard these men with respect, or disgust?” @BudrykZack said.

But instead of the original video, he posted a scene from The Simpsons featuring gay factory workers.

Others like @JimFlannel are getting by including a meme within the meme.

Meanwhile, @WitchySaka posted a photo of the band Weezer for the litmus test.

The user @chronowerks shared early footage of the German band Einstürzende Neubauten.

Tweeter @normalmadeline wondered if the men of HBO’s Girls were regarded with respect or disgust.
