Vodafone Australia is shutting down its Crazy John's brand at the end of next month.
The company says some Crazy John's locations will close for good, while others will be transformed into Vodafone branded stores.
The ABC understands that 40 of the company's 60 stores will close, while 20 will be rebranded.
The changes will begin from February 20.
It is unclear how many employees will be affected, but Vodafone says it will redeploy as many Crazy John's retail employees as possible.
The company says it is trying to focus spending on improving mobile coverage.
"We are continuing to focus our investments on our network to provide customers with better mobile coverage and fewer dropped calls," said a Vodafone spokeswoman.
"By prioritising our spend to improve the network, we've had to make some tough decisions." Vodafone says it is focusing its resources on promoting one Vodafone brand, particularly since merging with the 3 phone network and absorbing that brand under the Vodafone umbrella.
