Virginia Tech suspended forward Tyrece Radford indefinitely on Monday after he was arrested early on Sunday morning, the program announced.

Radford, the school said, was suspended “for not upholding the high standards Virginia Tech has for its students and athletes.” The Hokies didn’t provide any further details and said they would not comment on the incident again until it is resolved.

Radford, according to The Roanoke Times, was pulled over by Blacksburg police shortly after 1:15 a.m. on Sunday morning. He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and carrying a concealed weapon, per the report. Both charges are Class 1 misdemeanors in Virginia, which can result in up to 12 months in jail and a fine of up to $2,500.

The redshirt sophomore was released later on Sunday on bond and is due to be arraigned in court on Feb. 9.

Radford averaged 11.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game this season and started in all 14 games for No. 20 Virginia Tech while leading the team in playing 31 minutes per game. The Hokies are 11-3 and are 5-2 in ACC play. They are fresh off an 18-point loss to Syracuse on Saturday and are set to take on Notre Dame on Wednesday.

Coach Mike Young said the team will have no option but to find a way to succeed without Radford for the time being.

“We’ve got no choice. We’ll figure it out,” Young said Monday, via the Roanoke Times. “That’s what our intentions are … We’ve got enough players in this building to continue to win.
