Scent is a powerful part of our memories. When you think back to a vacation on the beach or a tropical destination, there are a few things that probably come to mind: the fruity frozen cocktails you drank, the feel of the sand between your toes or the sound of the waves against steel drums. However, when you smell the scent of your favorite sunscreen, it may make memories of your vacation feel even more vivid.

It smells like pool water, sunscreen, coconut, banana and swimsuit lycra.

Scientists believe that smell and memory are very closely linked because of the brain’s anatomy. It’s why you may get a whiff of apple pie and think of your grandmother or smell a certain aftershave and think of a time with your father. That’s also, in part, why Vacation, the brand behind the best-selling sunscreen, created its perfume.

“VACATION” by Vacation features the brand’s signature sunscreen scent in perfume form. It has top notes of coconut milk, coconut water and petitgrain essence (an essential oil from the bitter orange tree). It has middle notes of bergamot, banana, pineapple and solar musk. Finally, it has base notes of pool water, swimsuit lycra and sea salt. Close your eyes and just imagine your favorite warm-weather vacation — yep, it smells just like that.

However, instead of rubbing sunscreen all over your body to get the smell, you can simply spray it on with this “vacation perfume.”

“This perfume is amazing!” wrote one reviewer on the brand’s website. “It literally smells like… you’ve been on the beach with sunscreen or suntan lotion on, there’s a little bit of saltiness, you can smell the pool water, your swimsuit and floats. It’s that smell your skin has after being by the pool or beach all day! It’s so awesome! How did they bottle that smell?”

“I bought this a few weeks ago and OMG. It is exactly how I was hoping it would smell,” wrote another reviewer. “The perfect amount of sunscreen and paradise. It’s my favorite summer scent ever now. I wish they made bigger bottles!”

“VACATION” by Vacation costs $60 for a 1-fluid-ounce bottle. It’s small enough that you can take it in your carry-on through TSA, although, like some reviewers, you may love it so much you’ll wish it was bigger. Spray it on anytime you want to feel relaxed like you’re at the beach or sipping piña coladas poolside (even if it is rainy and gross outside in real life).

It smells like pool water, sunscreen, coconut, banana and swimsuit lycra.
