Timothy Weah will miss the rest of the club season after re-injuring his hamstring two weeks ago, according to Lille manager Christophe Galtier.

“His season is over, we hope to have him at the start of next season,” Galtier said, according to Lille’s official Twitter account.

Weah started Lille’s first game back in August but suffered a hamstring tear the following game. He finally returned to action against Marseille on Feb. 16, but re-injured himself minutes after coming on as a substitute. He underwent surgery earlier this week, according to the Associated Press.

The promising winger, who just turned 20 last week, joined Lille from Paris Saint-Germain last summer and signed a five-year contract. The injuries have been a tough blow, but perhaps it’s best for him to fully rehabilitate over the spring and summer.

Weah has made eight appearances for the United States men’s national team and is widely regarded as one of the best prospects in the player pool.
