$A unchanged after global stock gains

SYDNEY, Feb 28 AAP - The Australian dollar finished the overnight session unchanged following solid gains on global share markets, despite earlier hitting a fresh four-month low.

At 0630 AEDT on Thursday, the currency was trading at 102.16 US cents, the same level as on Wednesday afternoon.

The currency dipped to 101.86 US cents early on Thursday morning, its lowest point since early October.

Stock markets in the US and Europe gained overnight, with Germany's DAX 30 up 1.04 per cent while Paris' CAC 40 climbed 1.92 per cent.

At 0630 AEDT the Dow Jones Industrial Average in New York, as well as the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq were all up more than one per cent.
