Uber launches quiet mode for when you just don’t want to chat
Picture this: you’ve just arrived after a flight from London to New York and the only thing you want to do is collapse into bed.
But first, you need to get home and your Uber driver - while lovely - is talking a lot more than you can keep up with. Asking them to be quiet seems too rude - they’re lovely, after all - but what do you do?
Uber hopes to solve that awkward moment with a new “quiet mode” feature.
Currently only available to US passengers using Uber Black, the feature allows riders to select a “quiet preferred” or “happy to chat” options in the app, or not make a decision at all.
Uber Black is the more expensive Uber service.
Uber also announced features for Uber Black users including being able to request more time getting to the car, help with luggage and even preferred temperatures.
Uber drivers went on strike last week over pay and conditions, while Uber Australia currently faces a class action from taxi drivers who claim Uber did not have the legal right to operate as it does in Australia.
