While I’m not what you’d consider a total beauty buff, I’ve tried quite a few skin care and makeup trends in my day. Still, I never understood the point of primer. I already wear serum, moisturizer and SPF — why add another layer before my makeup? Well, let me tell you, I’m finally one of the girls who get it. Yes, you need a face primer, and you need to try Ole Henriksen’s.
I recently tried the new OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright Sun-Kissed Self-Tanner + Makeup Primer, and I’m definitely a fan. I’ve always loved the brand’s Banana Bright Eye Cream and consider myself a sunless-tan expert, so when I heard about the new product, I knew I had to try it.
The Banana Bright Sun-Kissed Self-Tanner + Makeup Primer is an upgraded version of the OLEHENRIKSEN best-selling Banana Bright Face Primer, which came out in 2019. This new version uses the power of vitamin C to brighten your complexion, blur the look of pores and fine lines, hydrate your skin and improve the smoothness of foundation. However, while it does all that, it also gives you a gradual, sun-kissed tan.
During my first try, I noticed how lightweight the primer was. It felt silky-smooth, and, yes, my pores were blurred. Additionally, this product contains the brand’s banana powder-inspired pigments, which contain light-reflecting minerals to instantly illuminate your skin. Immediately after applying, I definitely felt like my skin was glowing.
However, at the end of the day, when I washed my makeup off, I noticed my skin was still glowing, thanks to the self-tanner. After consistent use, the tan got a little darker, and my skin looked a little brighter, but I never looked streaky or patchy.
Like I said, I’ve never been a big fan of primer before. Others I’ve tried in the past made my skin break out or felt too heavy — but not this one. I’m actually kind of obsessed with the results.
The new Banana Bright Sun-Kissed Self-Tanner + Makeup Primer is limited-edition, meaning it won’t be around forever. If you want to try it, do it ASAP. The primer costs $40, but can you really put a price on good skin?
