Trevor Lawrence contract details: Jaguars QB among NFL's highest-paid players

The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Trevor Lawrence atop the 2020 NFL draft to be their franchise quarterback.

Evidently, the Jaguars are pleased with the job he did in that role during his first four seasons. Jacksonville handsomely rewarded Lawrence for his efforts during the 2024 NFL offseason, signing him to a lucrative contract extension that made him one of the highest-paid NFL players of all time.

How much is Lawrence making for the Jaguars in 2024 and beyond? Here's what to know about his contract and how it compares to some of the NFL's other top earners.

Trevor Lawrence contract details

Lawrence signed a five-year, $275 million contract before the 2024 NFL season. Below is a breakdown of the basics of the deal, per Spotrac.com.

  • Term: 5 years

  • Total value: $275 million

  • Average annual value (AAV): $55 million

  • Guaranteed money: $200 million

Lawrence's new deal made him second-highest-paid player in the NFL in both total contract value and AAV, an honor he'll share with Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow during the 2024 campaign. The two quarterbacks have nearly identical contracts, as both are making $275 million with $55 million in AAV.

The only difference between them? Lawrence's deal contains $200 million in total guarantees while Burrow's has $219.01 million.

Who is the highest-paid NFL quarterback?

Dak Prescott is currently the highest-paid NFL quarterback in terms of AAV. He signed a four-year, $240 million extension with the Dallas Cowboys on eve of the 2024 NFL season to leapfrog Lawrence and Burrow for the top spot.

Prescott also has the most guaranteed money in his contract among quarterbacks. A whopping $231 million of his deal is guaranteed, which surpassed Deshaun Watson's previous record of $230 million in his infamous fully guaranteed deal.

Prescott's contract isn't the NFL's largest contract overall, however. That honor belongs to Patrick Mahomes, who is penciled to make $450 million as part of the 10-year contract he signed with the team in 2020.

That said, it should be noted that Mahomes restructured his $450 million pact to be worth a total of $208.1 million in guarantees over the 2023-26 NFL seasons. The two sides will revisit the deal after the 2026 season, which makes it likely that Mahomes' actual AAV will eventually end up being greater than its official listing of $45 million.
