Travis Kelce expected to play in pivotal game against Texans

One of the Kansas City Chiefs’ most dangerous weapons will be ready to go against the Houston Texans. Tight end Travis Kelce — who battled knee pain throughout the week — is expected to play against the Texans on Sunday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Kelce, 30, is dealing with IT band tightness. He was listed as a limited participant in practice all week, and was considering questionable heading into Sunday.

Having Kelce should provide a major boost for the Chiefs. Kelce has emerged as one of Patrick Mahomes’ most consistent targets. Kelce hauled in 97 passes for 1,229 yards and five touchdowns during the regular season.

His presence will be even more important against the Texans secondary that has struggled against the pass. Houston rates 26th in the league vs. the pass, according to Football Outsiders.

The Chiefs will hope Kelce will be healthy enough to lift the team to the AFC championship game. The No. 1 seed Baltimore Ravens were shockingly eliminated by the Tennessee Titans on Saturday, so the Chiefs would host the AFC Championship if they can advance.
