Tourist rescue

Tasmania's rescue authorities have come to the aid of a Dutch backpacker who became lost in a remote area in the south west this afternoon.

Police say the 38 year old man had rented an emergency beacon from the National Parks and Wildlife service before setting out on his bushwalk near Port Davey.

He activated the device about twenty to four.

The tourist was flown back to Hobart in the police rescue helicopter and has no significant injuries.

Police say there are no concerns for his welfare.
