Titans place Jadeveon Clowney on IR due to knee injury

The Tennessee Titans will be without pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney for at least three games. Clowney, who has been unable to practice all week due to a knee injury, was placed on injured reserve on Saturday.

The move ensures Clowney will miss at least the next three weeks. The injury comes at a tough time, as the Titans were set to play the Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts and Cleveland Browns the next three games. All three of those teams head into Week 11 at 6-3, and are right in the AFC playoff race.

Through eight games, Clowney has four tackles for loss and six quarterback hits. He has yet to pick up a sack in 2020.

Jadeveon Clowney has been trying to play through knee injury

Clowney, considered one of the prized free agents of last offseason’s class, signed a one-year deal right before the season started worth up to $15 million. He’s been dealing with a knee issue since October.

The 27-year-old former No. 1 overall pick started experiencing issues during the team’s Week 7 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, though Clowney was able to return to that contest. Clowney nearly missed the team’s Week 8 game against the Cincinnati Bengals but was able to play.

He may have aggravated the injury in that game, because Clowney was unable to play against the Chicago Bears in Week 9. Clowney returned in Week 10, but apparently is still dealing with pain after that contest.

Clowney will be eligible to return from IR when the Titans take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14.
