TikTokers demonstrate worst possible 'hitman' fails in latest trend: 'We won't get a next time'

A new TikTok trend dubbed the “hitman” challenge has users hilariously pretending to be assassins for hire while being awfully horrible at their job.

The trend is simple: It involves the user acting as if they’re about to “poison” someone by sprinkling a substance into a drink. The user looks around to make sure no one is looking before dipping their finger into the drink to mix the “poison.” The catch? The user then unknowingly does a “taste test” of the mixture before they fall to the floor and “die.”

It’s unclear who actually started the viral challenge, which is dramatically set to the same song that served as the backdrop to the “Renaissance” challenge (“Reflections” by Toshifumi Hinata). Still, TikTokers seem to have gotten a kick out of it, creating their own creative versions of the trend.

In one TikTok, for instance, user @brok3boiii tips his cap to hide his face before pouring an unknown substance — presumably salt or sugar — into a glass of water. He then mixes the water with his index finger and tastes it. As he walks away from the camera, he falls to the ground.

The amusing stunt has since received over 23.5 million views and a good number of humorous comments.

“Mission failed successfully,” one person wrote.

“This had no need being this funny,” another added.

“Welp….mission failed we won’t get a next time,” a third commented.

Other TikTokers have gotten their friends in on the “hitman” challenge.

Consider this TikTok from @alanchikinchow, who repeatedly fails to “get” his friend. On his first attempt, the user accidentally spills an entire bag of “poison” into his friend’s glass in plain view, removing the element of surprise in the process. On his second attempt, the same user tries to pour “poison” into his friend’s glass by using a towel until the former sneezes straight into the same towel. Finally, on his last attempt, the user tries to get his friend to take a glass of water before he takes out the towel with poison — that his friend sneezes into his direction.

Some TikTokers have even upped the ante entirely by participating in the “blind hitman” challenge. Just like the original “hitman challenge,” this variation results in some rib-tickling endings — in many of the TikToks, users pretend to misdirect their target without realizing that their target can see everything they do.

In one TikTok posted by @onlychrisneal, for example, the user, pretending to be blind, taps his friend on the shoulder and points away from the friend’s glass in an effort to misguide him. However, the friend doesn’t fall for the trick and looks at the “hitman” in disbelief.

For what they’re worth, all of the TikToks and variations of the “hitman” challenge, like @onlychrisneal’s, seem to have a common message: It’s probably not a good idea to be a “hitman,” especially in an age where social media reigns supreme. Rather, it might be best to participate in something more wholesome and less risky — like these viral TikTok dances.
