TikToker's easy DIY recipe will make your home smell like Christmas: 'This one is so cozy'

The holiday season is here — and that means things are getting a lot cozier until after the new year.

Decode and demystify Gen Z's latest online slang terms with In The Know's new glossary.

When the weather gets colder, we just want to snuggle indoors and appreciate the comforts of our homes. There’s nothing like chilling under a warm blanket on the couch and taking in the relaxing atmosphere on a cold day.

TikTok crafter Carolina Mccauley shared a simple recipe for a holiday simmer pot. A simmer pot is a great alternative to scented candles, which have petroleum-based paraffin and artificial fragrances. All you need is some fruit, herbs and spices to fill your home with a nice, comforting aroma.

“Make your home smell like Christmas,” Mccauley wrote in the caption.

You’ll need:

  • Citrus fruit, sliced

  • Dried cranberries

  • Cinnamon sticks

  • Fresh herbs

First, Mccauley added water to a pot. Then she placed in sliced citrus fruit, such as pink grapefruit.

Next, she tossed in dried cranberries, cinnamon sticks and fresh rosemary.

Finally, she let the pot simmer on the stove to allow the aroma to fill her home.

TikTokers appreciated Mccauley’s Christmas simmer pot.

“I do cloves instead of rosemary. Smells divine,” someone wrote.

“You can also do this in a crockpot,” a user suggested.

“Love these and this one is so cozy,” another commented.
