TikTok user reveals ‘life-saving’ trick for washing white clothes without bleach: ‘Literally the best thing ever’

A TikTok user is drawing praise after sharing her “life-saving” hack for how to wash white clothes without bleach.

The trick comes courtesy of Valentina Chang (@valentinachang5). It’s the latest cleaning tip to spread widely on the app — joining tricks for eliminating odors in your car, keeping water marks off your shower and fixing scratched floors with a walnut.

Chang, the self-proclaimed “Mrs. Clean” has a TikTok page full of life hacks and at-home tips. However, her clip on how to wash white clothes without bleach seemed to resonate in a special way.

“I think I’ve mastered white clothing,” Chang captioned her video, which now has nearly 4.5 million views.

In the clip, Chang adds baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to her sink before filling it with water. She then lets her white clothes sit for at least an hour, if not more.

After that, she briefly machine-washes them, using cold water and just a little bit of detergent. Finally, she lets the clothes sit in the sun to air-dry.

In theory, Chang’s hack removes the possibility of potential bleach stains, a risk that comes with repeat washes or failing to follow certain instructions.

TikTok users mostly seemed to love the hack. Some even called it “life-saving.”

“This is literally the best thing ever,” one user wrote.

“Hydrogen peroxide is literally gold,” another commenter agreed.

“How did my FYP [For You Page] know I needed this so badly?” another asked.
