Let TikTok tell you about your year

We’re almost through the first month of 2023, but it’s never too late to let a TikTok filter tell you how your year will go.

At the start of the year, TikTokers used a filter created by @azjeffects that gave out an emoji for each month. The trend consisted of using the filter and playing “The Months of the Year” by the Kiboomers atop it. The slow build-up of emojis to show how the year will turn out had users ready to see what 2023 has in store for them, as over 3 million users participated in the trend.

Now, the creator has one more filter to truly put 2022 behind us. AZJeffects created a filter comparing 2022 to 2023. The concept still includes emojis that show up on the screen one by one. Users can compare last year and this year to get TikTok’s prediction for the year ahead.

So far, over 78,000 users have taken part in the new trend.

Videos with this filter are also bringing back one of TikTok’s favorite artists, Doja Cat. The song in the background is a sped-up version of “Tia Tamera,” performed by Doja Cat and Rico Nasty.

With only four emojis per year, the interpretations of users’ results are critical to the trend.

“Not me think of the song kill bill,” said @umma10507 below @lvlfromkenz video.

“What in the crime and punishment,” said @_wandas_son_ under the same video.

“2023 you went out to drink, someone show you, he had money and flew you out,” said @labrytt under @kaykole01’s video.

While the emoji-based prediction filter may be redundant to its predecessor, who doesn’t love a good comparison?
