TikTok-famous couple known for their ultra-fast marriage announce separation: 'I thought this was a joke'

One of TikTok’s most prominent couples, Kat and Mike Stickler, announced their separation in an emotional video.

They rose to fame at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic because of their prank videos and other content featuring their baby daughter, MK.

The only thing faster than their ascension into the limelight was the speed with which they got into a serious relationship. They began dating, got married and got pregnant with MK within the span of three months.

Their once joint account is now only in Kat’s name.

Fans noticed Kat had begun posting solo content on Instagram in late February and suspected that something was up. They were right.

In the video, Kat said she and Mike wanted to “address some of the rumors” of a possible separation between them.

“Unfortunately, they are true. We are separating. We just wanted to be transparent with you guys, because you guys have been with us from the beginning of this whole journey,” she said.

She asked for privacy for the couple as they focus on co-parenting MK in spite of the demise of their relationship.

“Kat is not at fault at all for any of this, just so you know,” Mike added, implying that he was to blame in some way. “There’s a lot of things I need to work on in my own life.”

Because the couple is known for their prank videos, some fans said they were waiting for them to reveal it was all a gag, but it doesn’t seem to be.

“She looks heartbroken and he looks unbothered,” one commenter wrote.

“I thought this was a joke but it just kept getting worse,” another said.

“Couples that are over-the-top happy on social media are usually the ones in trouble. Overcompensating to hide it,” a third remarked.
