Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey will undergo a scan on his ankle on Monday after limping off injured against Chelsea.

Partey suffered the injury during the first half of Sunday’s defeat to Chelsea at Emirates Stadium, which was the opening match of the pre-season tournament the Mind Series. The Ghanaian tried to carry on playing after originally struggling with his ankle issue but, after more treatment from the physio, he came off after 40 minutes.

The 28-year-old is now due to undergo a scan on his ankle on Monday and Arsenal will be praying that any injury is not serious, with the Premier League campaign kicking off against Brentford on August 13.

“I just had a talk with the doc. He is going to have a scan tomorrow,” said Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta on Sunday.

“At the moment it is not looking good because he was in pain and he could not continue, which for Thomas is unusual.”
