Yahoo Finance The Muppets are invading the Steelers-Bengals 'Monday Night Football' broadcast
ESPN’s broadcast of “Monday Night Football” will look a little different in Week 15. The Pittsburgh Steelers will face the Cincinnati Bengals, but it won’t be called “Monday Night Football.” It’ll be “Muppet Night Football.”
To bring the audience some festive holiday cheer, the Muppets will be invading “Monday Night Football.” According to the press release, Kermit and Miss Piggy will kick off the broadcast at 8 p.m. ET in the studio. Fozzie Bear will be reporting from the field, Statler and Waldorf will be in the stands, and Animal will be playing the drums. Where will he be playing the drums? And why? Who knows. It’s the Muppets. Do you really need a reason why?
A teaser video for the broadcast was released on Monday and it has all the Muppet goodness you could possibly ask for.

The Muppets will sing “Carol of the Bells” right before kickoff, and will reappear at various points throughout the evening.
All of this sounds great, but ESPN can — and should — go even farther. Put Gonzo and Rizzo the Rat in the broadcast booth. Let Statler and Waldorf chime in with heckles every few plays. Schedule Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem as the halftime show. Have Fozzie and Miss Piggy interview players on the field after the game. Give Bunsen and Beaker a segment where they teach the audience about the science of football, which would inevitably end with Beaker getting smushed by one or several falling footballs.
The NFL is doing a kid-friendly Nickelodeon broadcast in January, so why not an all-Muppet broadcast?
