Australia’s fastest-growing jobs have been revealed, with IT and engineering roles dominating the list.

LinkedIn has released its 2023 Jobs on the Rise list, which analysed LinkedIn member data from January 2018 to July 2022 to find the jobs experiencing the biggest growth rates.

Topping the list this year were technical program managers, who are responsible for overseeing technical or IT projects for their organisation.

This was followed by clinical exercise physiologists, then site-reliability engineers - who are responsible for the development and management of software systems for apps and websites.

“This year's list shows there has been remarkable growth within the professional services sector, with roles specifically in IT and engineering experiencing the fastest rise, taking up a combined total of 11 spots on the list,” LinkedIn career expert Cayla Dengate said.

“So, for those looking to transition into one of those top roles, look at the required skills and use available resources, such as LinkedIn Learning, to upskill and prepare for the potential role."

LinkedIn noted a shift towards a skills-based approach, with more emphasis on technical upskilling across most industries, particularly professional services like IT and business.

The majority of fast-growing jobs were also dominated by men, with females outweighing men in only six of the 25 jobs listed - sustainability manager, job coach, customer success manager, client associate, health assistant and finance associate.
