Yahoo Finance Terrelle Pryor says he's talked with Patriots, Steelers, 'a big fan of Cam' Newton
Terrelle Pryor’s not done with football.
Not if he can help it, at least. The former quarterback turned receiver told TMZ on Monday that he’s been preparing for an NFL comeback and has talked with five teams, including the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots.
He’s excited about the idea of catching passes from Cam Newton or Ben Roethlisberger.
“I was always a big follower of Cam and fan of Cam,” Pryor said. “And obviously Big Ben, that’s my hometown city of Pittsburgh. That’s just two teams I’d really want to play for.”
Pryor’s NFL struggles, injuries
Pryor, 31, hasn’t played since the 2018 season that saw the New York Jets release him midseason after he suffered a groin injury. He then signed with the Buffalo Bills, but was released after two ineffective games. In eight games that season, Pryor caught 16 passes for 252 yards and two touchdowns.
He signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2019 offseason, but was released before playing a game after being hampered by a hamstring injury.

He believes he can still be an effective player if he can assuage teams of injury concerns.
“It’s really just my injuries,” Pryor said of what’s slowed him down. “I can still play. I can still make plays and dominate. I gotta have that in my mind. They’ve gotta see that I can stay healthy. That’s the only thing that really held me back.”
Pryor showed promise as a receiver
Pryor joined the NFL in 2011 after a standout career as Ohio State’s quarterback that was cut short amid a memorabilia scandal. After failing to find success as an NFL quarterback with the Oakland Raiders, Pryor had a breakout season in 2016 as a wide receiver with the Cleveland Browns, tallying 77 catches for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns.
In two seasons since, he managed just 492 receiving yards in stints with the Bills, Jets and Washington.
In November, Pryor was stabbed in the chest and shoulder and charged with assaulting the woman who allegedly stabbed him in the incident. Shalaya Briston faced an attempted homicide charge that was later dropped. She still faces a charge of aggravated assault.
Pryor has reportedly recovered from the injuries suffered in the incident.
