With Black History Month underway, you might notice more retailers supporting Black-owned brands and Black creators than ever before. If you’ve been looking for ways to support Black-owned businesses, In The Know is highlighting a different business each day of Black History Month. But you can also find new Black-owned products at big-box retailers like Target.
Target’s new Black Beyond Measure Shop is full of apparel, home goods, beauty products and more that celebrate Black excellence in every form.
Not only does this shop feature gorgeous products that you can use and wear all year long, but you can also use the shop to learn about the Black creators behind each brand. You’ll find cute stationary products from Jena Holliday, the founder of Spoonful of Faith, or you can shop clothing that helps spread messages of positivity from Kalilah Wright’s Mess in a Bottle.
But Target isn’t just investing in Black brands — this new shop also recognizes Black student artists. Three HBCU student designs were chosen as part of the 2021 HBCU Design Challenge to be featured on a piece of apparel for the shop. And you can shop each one: Keshawn’s Mind Body Soul T-shirt, Aisha’s Black History Month T-shirt and Isaiah’s Stronger Together Sweatshirt.
While you can buy Black now to honor Black History Month, Target’s assortment of Black-owned brands are available to support all year long. But before some limited-edition pieces are gone, be sure to shop the standout picks below from the Black Beyond Measure Shop.
