The world's third largest gold producer AngloGold Ashanti will bring its West Australian mine into production ahead of schedule despite pushing ahead with an overall plan to cut costs by $US500 million.

COH - COCHLEAR - up 85 cents at $60.00

Hearing implant maker Cochlear says the success of the rollout of its Nucleus 6 device will be important for the company's financial results in the 2014 financial year.

DOW - DOWNER EDI - down 2.0 cents at $3.89

Engineering company Downer EDI has recorded an 80 per cent increase in net profit but warns the next 12 months will be challenging.

FMG - FORTESCUE METALS GROUP - up 8.0 cents at $3.93
