CBA - COMMONWEALTH BANK - down $1.24, or 1.3 per cent, at $93.10

NAB - NATIONAL AUSTRALIA BANK - down 51 cents, or 1.3 per cent, at $38.32

WBC - WESTPAC - down seven cents, or 0.2 per cent, at $39.13

Banks and building societies have condemned a bank deposits tax plan as a burden on ordinary Australians and retirees.
