Stocks to watch at close on Friday

Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange at noon on Friday:

ANZ - ANZ BANKING ROUP - down $2.44, or 7.5 per cent, at $30.14

CBA - COMMONWEALTH BANK - down $3.25, or 3.8 per cent, at $81.30

NAB - NATIONAL AUSTRALIA BANK - down 77 cents, or 2.3 per cent, at $32.82

WBC - WESTPAC BANKING GROUP - down $1.09, or 3.3 per cent, at $32.35

The banks have fallen for a second straight day after ANZ's announcement of a $3 billion capital raising.

ORI - ORICA - down $3.19, or 16.9 per cent, at $15.64

Orica's shares have taken a pummelling and could be set for more punishment after the explosives maker shocked investors by announcing a profit downgrade and an asset writedown of as much as $1.65 billion.

RHC - RAMSAY HEALTH CARE - down $3.12, or 4.7 per cent, at $63.25

Private hospitals operator Ramsay Health Care has reaffirmed its guidance for core net profit following the publication of the financial results for French hospitals group Generale de Sante.

RIO - RIO TINTO - down 28 cents, or 0.5 per cent, at $53.27

Mining giant Rio Tinto will make deeper cost cuts and slash spending after plunging iron ore prices caused a massive fall in half year profit.

VAH - VIRGIN AUSTRALIA HOLDINGS - down 0.5 cents, or 1.1 per cent, at 43.5 cents

Virgin Australia will axe flights to Bali and Phuket in an effort to turn around its loss-making international business and get back to profitability for the first time in four years.
