Stocks gain as bitcoin takes investors on a wild ride

Another good day for stocks with tech leading the way… but it’s bitcoin that has Wall Street’s attention. Plus – bitcoin’s wild ride has investors giddy – is there reason to be concerned though? And what if you cant – *gasp* – sell? And – Omaha intrigue coming to an end? Why Warren Buffett’s successor may be emerging… Plus – before bitcoin, running a startup was a real roller coaster. How one startup hit 100 million users, and lost $78 million in the process.

Winners and losers

Stocks in the red today include Lending Club as the online lending site as its Q4 revenue forecast came up short, Yelp as Piper Jaffray downgraded shares of the local reviews site to ‘underweight,’ and Egalet – shares of the drugmaker dropping as CVS Caremark will no longer carry its Sprix Nasal Spray pain treatment.

Stocks in the green today include Sage Therapeutics as the drugmaker announced positive results for its experimental depression drug, Lululemon as the yoga-wear retailer beat on earnings, raised its full-year forecast, and Broadcom – shares ripping higher as the chip maker beat on earnings– thanks to sales of smartphone parts– and increased its dividend.
