Stellantis laying of 2,450 plant workers as Ram 1500 Classic production ends
Investing.com -- Stellantis is set to lay off 2,450 U.S. factory workers later this year at its Warren Truck Plan in Michigan as the automaker plans to ditch production of an older version of its Ram 1500 Classic pickup truck.
“With the introduction of the new Ram 1500, production of the Ram 1500 Classic at the Warren (Michigan_ Truck Assembly Plant will come to an end later this year,” the company said in a statement, according to multiple media outlets on Friday.
The layoffs could occur as soon as Oct. 8, and would follow a series of layoffs at other plants as weaker sales forced the automaker to scale back output.
Stellantis NV (NYSE:STLA) was down 1% in recent trading.
