Stay-at-home-mom slams husband over his ‘ridiculous’ household demand: ‘He needs to grow up’

A woman is refusing to make breakfast for her husband every single morning.

She asked Reddit’s “Am I the A******?” to weigh in on the situation. The wife is a stay-at-home-mom (STAHM) and her husband recently became the breadwinner. Since starting his new job, he’s begun to demand she wake up every morning at 5 a.m. to make him breakfast. The wife accused him of taking advantage of her.

“My husband recently found a job and officially became the ‘breadwinner’ and me the ‘STAHM,'” she explained. “In the past few days, he has been complaining about getting up in the morning and not getting breakfast. He said that I should be getting up before him at 5 a.m. to make him breakfast as part of my STAHM routine. I asked why he can’t do it himself since he used to do everything. He had two points: He is no longer unemployed; he is the breadwinner. Now his job is to provide for the family. He says he barely gets ready and finds no time to make himself breakfast. I pointed out that I can not be expected to wake up at 5 a.m. after staying up at night with the baby. [I] reminded him of what I do during the day since that is a job and a difficult one at that.

The husband dismissed the wife’s concerns and wouldn’t agree to cook for himself.

“He argued that he still thought it was unfair that he has to make breakfast before going to work and I should do it as part of my job,” she wrote. “I said he was taking advantage of me since he is still [able-bodied] and can do it if he saves [the] time he uses to read the news on his phone or [spent in] the shower. He made a face and called me unbelievable for claiming he was taking advantage of me when he is the one bringing in the money, then shrugged and said he’ll just cancel breakfast then. He keeps suggesting it but I keep refusing. He claimed I was being unfair and unsupportive of him taking on a new job.”

“He needs to grow up and take care of himself,” a user commented.

“Your husband is spoiled and ridiculous,” another said.

“My wife was home with the kids for a long time and I would never have demanded so much,” someone wrote.
