Was the new 'Star Wars’ filmed on the London Tube?

Disney. The trailer for the latest movie in the Star Wars franchise has appeared online and U.K.-based fans have been going crazy about a certain scene.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…? Well not quite, more like a few stops on London's Jubilee Line.

The trailer for the latest movie in the Star Wars franchise, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" appeared online Thursday and U.K.-based fans have been going crazy about a certain scene one minute and 10 seconds in.

In the clip Jyn Erso, played by Felicity Jones, and a team of rebels are seen escaping a group of Imperial Stormtroopers through a cavernous, dark, foreboding building filled with a perceptible air of menace.

Or Canary Wharf London Underground station as it is known to the city's commuters.

The tube station is the main hub for London's new financial center with HSBC, Citigroup and Bank of America all having headquarters nearby.

Twitter, perhaps unsurprisingly, got very excited.

For those used to the sometimes epic and arduous daily commute through London, sometimes a rebel rescue squad is exactly what they need.

CNBC contacted Disney, the company behind the latest "Star Wars" movies, but had not received any comment by the time this article was published.
