SPOTTED: fly $129 between Australia and Maldives
Flights between Australia and the Maldives have been spotted for as low as $129 one-way.
Budget Singaporean airline Scoot is currently advertising flights between Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast to the Maldives capital Malé for as low as $199 one way. If you're in Perth, it's even cheaper at $189.
However, Yahoo Finance has spotted the return flights from the Maldives back to Sydney at an even lower price of $129.
This means Sydneysiders could fly over for a tropical holiday to the Maldives for just $398 return.
But the usual caveats for budget airline tickets apply – check-in luggage and in-flight food will cost extra, limited seats are available at the dirt-cheap price, and long layovers may have to be endured.
Scoot flights transit via its hub city of Singapore, with the journey from Sydney to Malé stopping off for more than 20 hours. Singapore Airport, fortunately, is one of the more pleasant airports to be stuck in, with attractions like indoor gardens and no-visa city tours available to kill time.
Flights between Australia and the Maldives are usually more than $1,000. Full service carrier Singapore Airlines, for example, is selling a return ticket for $1,237 for a trip from Sydney to Malé for dates in July.
Maldives are a group of islands south of India and Sri Lanka that's popular as a tropical sea resort holiday destination. The country is famous for its tourist cabins that are built above the azure waters.
Scoot is also currently advertising one-way tickets to Athens and Berlin for $299 one-way, which beats the $329 it was selling for in a previous sale. However, Yahoo Finance was unable to verify a date combination that could secure a return journey with that price for both legs.
