Teen hits back after 'rectangle' face from cosmetic procedure goes viral

A young woman has been forced to hit back because the aftermath of a cosmetic procedure saw her go viral around the world for having a ‘rectangle face’.

Sofia Marroquin decided to have a Kybella treatment to dissolve fat in her jaw, and shared a video to TikTok showing her family’s hilarious reactions when she first came home after having the procedure.

Her parents, sister, and best friend were clearly shocked at the ‘new’ look and the video quickly amassed over three million views.

But Sofia has since revealed the major swelling only lasted 48 hours and her face will return to normal.

“PLEASE WATCH,” she captioned a subsequent clip on TikTok after apparently receiving plenty of messages from people about why she would do that to her face.

“Ok I feel like I’ve come to the point where this needs to be said,” she starts in the video.

“I feel like more people need to be a little but more educated. Can I just quickly point out once again that my face is still swollen, it’s fatter because it’s still swollen, so next week is the end result, not now.

“I have been open with the treatment I had done last week to slim my face. And I understand there are so many opinions out there on cosmetics and injectables. And that’s okay, there is no right or wrong.

“But if you want to get something done that’s up to you, it’s not up to anyone else.

“Personally the only reason I got it done wasn’t to be ‘fake’ or to ‘look prettier’ or anything like that.

“I was genuinely insecure about it and i was literally always hiding my face with my hair.

She said the nurse thoroughly assessed her before having the procedure and could have turned her away if the treatment wasn’t suitable.

“So the only reason I did it was for myself,” she concluded.

She then shared another video on Thursday musing over the fact that media outlets around the world had written about her ‘rectangle’ face.

“Turns out the world wrote articles about me,” she captioned the video, that also played a song with the words ‘I’m just a kid’.

She received plenty of support from other TikTok users telling her to ‘pay no mind’ to others.

“Aww this is getting out of hand, I’m starting to feel bad for you,” one person wrote.

“I hope you’re okay?” another asked.

“Honestly don’t listen to any of the HATERS out there,” another comment read.
