SNAPSHOT OF VICTORIA'S CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK:

NEW CASES

* 766 new locally acquired cases

* Four deaths: three from Hume, two men aged in their 70s and 80s, and a woman in her 90s, and a Moreland man in his 80s.

* It brings the number of deaths from the current outbreak to 20

* 740 cases in Melbourne local government areas

- 468 in northern suburbs, including 264 in Hume

- 172 in west, including Hoppers Crossing, Point Cook, Werribee

- 76 in southeast, including Pakenham, Dandenong, Berwick

- 24 in eastern suburbs, including Doncaster East and Croydon

* Two cases acquired interstate

* Three cases under investigation

* 21 cases in regional Victoria

- One in Ballarat

- Eight in Mitchell

- Four in Bacchus Marsh

- Five in Macedon Ranges

- One in Surf Coast

- One in Bendigo

- One in Mildura

* 55 per cent of new cases contracted within households

* 6666 active cases in the state

* 257 people in hospital, of which 60 are in intensive care including 41 on a ventilator

* A record 62,408 COVID-19 test results received on Wednesday

* 38,000 primary close contacts

VACCINATIONS

* 40,957 COVID-19 vaccine doses administered on Wednesday at state-run hubs

* More than 75.2 per cent of Victorians aged 16 and over have had at least one dose and 45.6 per cent are fully vaccinated

* Of those in hospital, 81 per cent were not vaccinated at all, 15 per cent partially vaccinated and three per cent were fully vaccinated

* First dose vaccination rates in LGAs of concern:

- 76 per cent in Wyndham

- 74 per cent in Kardinia

- 72 per cent in Casey

- 71 per cent in Dandenong

- 67 per cent in Hume

- 65 per cent in Whittlesea
