Shoppers continue to slam Woolies for its ‘fresh food’

The ‘Fresh Food People’ continue to come under fire from disgruntled customers who are losing faith with the supermarket giant as more and more issues with mouldy, out-of-date and questionable produce are uncovered.

The freshness of Woolies oranges and mandarins seem to be questionable.

“3kg for $6.99 and they look like this,” one customer said.

And another: “Woolworths, the not so fresh people...”

“Hey Woolworths thanks for the lovely mandarin I purchased from you less than 24hrs ago disgrace.”

Another disgruntled shopper was particularly unhappy with some mouldy pears.

“Thanks for your beautiful pears Woolworths..”

Even the quality of vegetables have been brought into question.

“Never again am I buying food from you guys. You call yourself the fresh food people
I'd love to hear the excuse this time.”

Click and collect items didn’t fare any better for this customer either.

“Hi... 1st time I did click & collect from The Stables and I cut up this.”

I also ordered 2 kg of mandarins and was given 2 mandarins instead. I don't want anything, because it just reminded me why I order from Coles & I shouldn't have come back.”

“Just thought your quality people would appreciate knowing what is being given to your customers.”

One shopper was very unimpressed about being sold out-of-date coconut water.

“Yuck!!! I literally bought this yesterday from Schofields and it is 5 months out of date!! It wasn’t until O said how bad it tasted that I looked!”

And its not just fruit and vegetables that Woolies seems have to struggle to keep fresh.

"I give in. I posted about the vegetable burgers full of mold from your "fresh food" fridge the other nights and you replied with please PM us the details to and you gave me a link,” an angry shopper said.

“There are that many complaints and pics of bad food bought in your stores I cant find the link. Here are the details you asked for."

Woolies fresh food claims certainly get pulled into question when they are neither fresh, or in date.

“Woolworths... The "what" food people... Judging by the dates of these yogurts on your store shelf tonight, you certainly can't be the "fresh" food people,” one customer commented on the supermarket giant’s facebook page.

Did Woolies use a promotion to shift some old stock?

“They may be half price but they are also 1 month nearly out of date,” a shopper said.
