I realize how lucky I am to not have any trouble falling asleep. My friends even joke that it’s a superpower because if my head is on a pillow, I’ll be asleep within minutes.

And I’ve shared in the past that I don’t really rely on anything to fall asleep (a great pillow helps), but occasionally I do reach for an eye mask to help me stay asleep when the street or morning light starts to come in through my blinds.

In my opinion, a good eye mask has a few qualities: it’s soft to the touch, gentle on my skin, the band isn’t too tight on my head, and it doesn’t slide around too much. And while I have written about how I love the Nodpod, that is for the rare occasions when I can’t get to sleep. My silk eye mask is for when I need a little light blockage.

While I agree that $50 is a lot to be spending on an eye mask, this is the eye mask I use nine times out of 10 because it’s pretty perfect. This mask is made with long-fiber mulberry silk that is non-absorbent, so if I put it on my face after I’ve applied my night cream, I’m not worried about it wiping off all of my product. It’s super soft and just the right size to cover only my eyes. If you feel like treating yourself, definitely go with this option from Slip.

2. Brooklinen Mulberry Silk Eyemask, $26.10 (Orig. $29)

Brooklinen’s eye mask is a more budget-friendly option for under $30, and it features a great charmeuse weave. According to its product description, it’s also cool to the touch, so if you’re a hot sleeper, this could be an awesome mask for you. This mask is also machine wash-friendly and comes in more than five colors.

3. Blissy Sleep Mask, $39.95 (Orig. $49.95)

Blissy’s silk eye mask fits right between Slip’s and Brooklinen’s, thanks to its current sale price. This mask comes with a travel bag, so it’s ideal for bringing along with you to use on a flight or at a hotel that doesn’t have blackout shades. The brand also says that the masks can help prevent wrinkles and creases around our delicate eye area, so that’s a definite win.
