Shocking moment man tries to kidnap girl, 4, from restaurant

A man has been filmed leaping over a fence to try and grab a child from a restaurant table.

The dramatic CCTV was captured in Florida in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Thursday and footage later circulated on Facebook.

In the video, two women can be seen sitting at the table with the child, a four-year-old girl, when the man leaps the fence and grabs at her.

The two women try to stop him and a man at another table leaps into action to wrestle him away.

He manages to take the man down while the women and little girl leave the area. Police arrive shortly after.

Florida Police Sergeant Mpho More told Roodeport Record the shop owner and the community managed to stop the man, who police believe was trying to kidnap the little girl.

Sgt More added he had the girl by her neck.

However, private investigator Wendy Pascoe told SAPeople the man, 24, wasn’t trying to abduct the little girl but a “continuation of an initial incident of Assault GBV (gender-based violence) that started on the street and was not captured on camera”.

Ms Pascoe claims he’s known to have drug issues. He was due to face court on Friday local time.
