From sheets to pillows, here’s how I turned my bedroom into a hotel-like oasis

One quick way to realize you’re not living it up at home is to stay at a hotel. I recently treated myself to a birthday staycation, and when I returned home I immediately started researching ways to upgrade my bedroom.

Spending lots of time at home is the new normal, so I am committed to improving my sleep space. Earlier in March, TikTok convinced me to try out the viral West Elm TENCEL™ Sheets and I fell in love. However, I quickly realized that my broken box spring and slouching pillows didn’t work with these incredible sheets.

Out With The Old, In With The New

The edge of my old bed was broken and it felt like I was sleeping on a slide every night. And considering it’s the bed I slept in all throughout college, it was definitely time for an upgrade. With help from my sister, I upgraded to this chic Willa Arlo Interiors bed and an eight-inch Alwyn Home Wood Box Spring Foundation from Wayfair. They’re both on major sale right now, FYI.

Currently, I stand at 5 foot 10 inches and my previous bed was not as tall as this one. The Willa Arlo Interiors bed not only gives me more room at the foot of my bed but when combined with the box spring also fits my tall frame so much better. My feet actually dangle off the sides!

Bed Accessories

In addition to the TENCEL sheets that inspired this whole story, I wanted to make my bed more comfortable with pillows. Ultimately, my hope is that my bed looks like the ones you see in those aspirational Pinterest home pics. I snagged myself two of the Extra Firm Down Alternative Pillows from Target. Plus, I swiped this Ultra Soft Oblong Faux Fur Embossed Leopard Decorative Pillow as well as two large square-shaped throw pillows from T.J.Maxx.

Honestly, since transforming my bed into a more luxurious space, I’ve slept so much better. I don’t toss and turn as much, and I’m able to consistently sleep for hours at a time. Plus, I don’t feel like I need spend money on a whole staycation just to get a full night’s rest anymore. Sometimes getting a better night’s rest really is as simple as updating your sheets and bed frame.
