Shares set for sleepy start

The Australian share market is set for a flat open, following mixed leads overseas at the end of last week.

The ASX SPI 200 futures index was down just 3 points to 4,442.

In the US, the official unemployment rate rose slightly to 7.9 per cent, but job creation was better than expected.

Despite this, the Dow Jones reversed 1.1 per cent, to 13,093.

In Europe, markets mostly gained - the FTSE 100 rose 0.1 per cent to 5,869.

The Australian dollar has been trading higher against the greenback this morning after a fall late last week - just before 9:00am (AEDT) it was trading at 103.45 US cents.
