Sydney, Australia, Oct 18, 2019 - (ABN Newswire) - The latest SEEK Employment Report shows a decline of 7.4% in jobs advertised (y/y to September, 2019).

Community Services & Development (18.5%) lead as the sector with the highest job ad growth for September, 2019 (vs. Sept 2018), followed by Farming, Animals & Conservation (13.4%), Education & Training (7.8%) and Healthcare & Medical (7.4%).

Kendra Banks, Managing Director, SEEK ANZ comments:

"We are seeing a slight improvement in the market with the rate of job ad decline moderating, with September at -7.4% compared to August, which was -8.6%.

Month to month we continue to see growth come from the large employing sectors of Community Services and Development which has seen a jump from 13% y/y in August to 18.5% in September. Over the same period Healthcare & Medical jumped from 4.6% to 7.4%.

The employment demand across a wide range of roles within social services, particularly children and aged care support is a common theme. Specific roles include Aged & Disability Support, Childcare and Secondary teaching and Aged Care Nurses."

About the SEEK Employment Report

The SEEK Employment Report provides a comprehensive overview of the Australian Employment Marketplace. The report includes the SEEK Employment Index (SEI), which is the first Australia aggregate indicator to measure the interaction between labour market supply and labour market demand.

It also includes the SEEK New Job Ad Index which measures only new job ads posted within the reported month to provide a clean measure of demand for labour across all classifications.

SEEK's total job ad volume (not disclosed in this report) includes duplicated job advertisements and refreshed job ads. As a result, the SEEK New Job Ad Index does not always match the movement in SEEK's total job ad volume.
