One thing Today show fans were thankful for this past Thanksgiving? To see a smiling Al Roker on Instagram.
In honor of the holiday, the 68-year-old NBC anchor posted family photos featuring his wife Deborah Roberts with their children Leila and Nick. What's more, Al's daughter Courtney, 35, whom he had with his first wife Alice Bell, also joined the festivities. The pictures were shared shortly after the meteorologist was hospitalized for circulating blood clots, which impacted his lungs.
"So very #thankful to be able to be home for #thanksgiving #dinner with #family," Al captioned the family photos on Instagram.
Reacting to Al's holiday post, Today show fans immediately took to the comments section to share words of love and support.
"Thinking of you and your family and thankful that you can be home for Thanksgiving. I hope that you continue to improve. Happy Thanksgiving," one person wrote. "Beautiful picture of your beautiful family and so happy you are home!! ❤️🙏," another added. "So happy you're home. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Take care of yourself. We miss you," a different fan said.
Although Al isn't shy when it comes to sharing glimpses of his personal life on Instagram, folks rarely get to see his entire family all together. His oldest daughter Courtney, 35, is a successful chef and owner of a catering business. His other daughter Leila, 24, is a journalist who lives in Paris, and his youngest son Nick, 20, just moved out and started college this past fall.
On November 18, Al revealed that his two-week absence from the morning show was because he was being treated for a blood clot that started in his leg but later traveled to his lungs. Apart from missing the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade for the first time in 27 years due to his health scare, the TV personality is also skipping the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting as he continues to recover.
"We just want to say, we love you Al," fellow Today co-anchor Hoda Kotb said on the show before the Christmas event. "Wondering if you're watching, but we wish you a full recovery."
Al has shared that he is on the mend and well on the way to recovery. With support systems both at home and the office, it's clear Al seems to be surrounded by a great group of folks who will aid in his recovery, so that we can see him return to our screens sooner rather than later.
