Raya and the Last Dragon was one of Disney's biggest hits in 2021, so we're predicting you'll be seeing lots of Raya-inspired costumes out there this Halloween! If you somehow missed this epic animated movie, here's the plot in a nutshell: Some 500 years after a group of magical dragons sacrifice themselves to save humans from the monstrous Druun, a fearless young woman named Raya courageously takes on the challenge of finding the last dragon, Sisu, to restore peace among her land's rival tribes.

So this Halloween, channel your inner Disney princess warrior by DIYing these badass costumes inspired by Raya and the Last Dragon. Thanks to these easy homemade costume ideas (you can find almost everything you need on Amazon!), it'll be easy to show off your superhero strength come October 31. But one quick note: If you or your kids want to wear a Raya costume this year, remember to do a gut check about the kind of costuming you're choosing and take care to avoid stereotyping someone else's culture, or it it could be considered cultural appropriation.

Preparing for battle is a breeze: Rock a yellow wrap top with a billowy pair of printed pants in shades of blue and green. Make sure that you have each of the primary colors (red, yellow and blue) represented in your costume to celebrate the elements. Not all heroes wear capes, but a red shawl paired with a brooch will truly set off your look. Top your ensemble off with a wide-brim straw hat. If you have a pair of trusted brown boots in your closet, a matching leather vest and some silver baubles, your look is set.
