Saoirse Ronan might not be in Oscar contention this year (sorry Foe), but you can relive one of her previously Oscar-nominated movies.

In a career that already includes Little Women, Brooklyn and Atonement, Lady Bird stands out as Saoirse Ronan's best movie to date which just shows you how good the coming-of-age drama is.

If you haven't seen it (or just fancy a rewatch), Lady Bird is now available to watch on BBC iPlayer, following its airing last night (March 6) on BBC One.

The movie will be available to watch for the next 29 days.

Written and directed by Greta Gerwig, Lady Bird sees Ronan play high school senior Christine 'Lady Bird' McPherson as she attempts to make the most of her life despite a turbulent relationship with her mother Marion (Laurie Metcalf).

The movie also stars Timothée Chalamet in one of his earlier movie roles, alongside an impressive supporting cast that includes Tracy Letts, Beanie Feldstein, Stephen McKinley Henderson and Kathryn Newton.

Lady Bird was nominated for five Oscars, including Best Picture, Leading Actress for Ronan and Best Director for Gerwig.

Unfortunately, it didn't end up winning any awards on the night, but that shouldn't stop you watching it. For some, Lady Bird might even be considered Gerwig's best movie, but Little Women (which also stars Ronan) and Barbie might have something to say there.

Talking of Barbie, Ronan revealed earlier this year that her cameo as a "Weird Barbie" was cut from the movie. "I had a scene but didn’t ever get to do it, and it wasn't in the movie," she explained.

"I can't even remember [the scene] now, but it was weird. I think I'd be the strange girl who talked to herself and always had her pet dog with her and always talked to the dog and wouldn't look at anyone."

Lady Bird is now available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
