Samsung has resolved 81 per cent of top loader washing machines affected by a recall, but have urged buyers to continue coming forward after numerous fires were sparked by the machines.
Since six washing machine models were subject to an Australia-wide safety recall in 2013 there have been 87 fires causing damage to property external to the machine.
Two of those fires happened after the machines were fixed, according to a report released by Samsung on Tuesday.
While there have been more than 117,000 machines checked there remains more than 27,000 units unchecked.
"We are continuing in our efforts to find every possible machine," Samsung Australia Corporate Vice President Philip Newton said.
The six washing machine model numbers affected are SW75V9WIP/XSA, SW65V9WIP/XSA, SW70SPWIP/XSA, SW80SPWIP/XSA, WA85GWGIP/XSA and WA85GWWIP/XSA.
