Cam Jordan played vs. Chiefs, got ejected as wife was in labor

Cam Jordan had a day on Sunday.

The New Orleans Saints defensive end was ejected for throwing a punch in the fourth quarter of a high-stakes game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Afterward, he took the blame for the loss because of the incident.

It turns out he could have saved himself and his wife some stress by getting ejected before halftime.

New addition in the Jordan household

Jordan told NFL Network’s Jane Slater on Tuesday that his wife Nikki’s water broke just before the game.

“My wife had her water break pregame,” Jordan told Slater. “Then I get ejected for a punch that wasn’t intentional 70 plays or so into the game, and my daughter Chanel Jordan was born two hours later.”

It sounds like all is well in the Jordan household with the arrival of Chanel. And Jordan found out on Monday that he was named to the sixth Pro Bowl of his career. And despite the loss, the 10-4 Saints remain in good shape for the playoffs with an outside shot of passing the Green Bay Packers for the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

While beating the Chiefs — and not getting ejected — would have certainly made the day sweeter, it all adds up to a win for Jordan.

Even if he’s still steaming a bit over his controversial ouster.
