Yahoo Finance Sabina Nessa hoped to start a new life in Dubai before brutal murder, friend claims
Sabina Nessa had dreams of starting a new life teaching children in the Middle East, according to a friend.
The primary school teacher, 28, was killed while making her way to the pub to meet a date.
Ms Nessa was killed on a five-minute walk from her home to The Vault in Kidbrooke, south east London on September 17.
A dogwalker discovered her body under a pile of leaves at Cator Park the following evening.
A book of condolence has now been opened at the nearby OneSpace community centre for people to pay their respects.
“She just wanted to live life. She wanted to go to Dubai or the UAE and teach children there,” a close friend told LBC.
Ms Nessa had only lived at her flat since June and was due to meet somebody she had known for a while at the pub, according to the broadcaster.
Friends told how she loved news, music and children and had devoted her life to teaching them.
They said they became suspicious by Saturday when they had not heard from Ms Nessa, who did not tend to stay out late.
However, they thought her date had gone well while the man she was meeting thought she had changed her mind, it is understood.
Thousands of people gathered at a candlelit vigil in Pegler Square on Friday in memory of the much-loved teacher.
Speaking to the crowd, her sister Jebina Yasmin Islam said their world is “shattered” after losing an “amazing, caring, beautiful sister who left this world far too early.”
The Duchess of Cambridge shared a special message ahead of the event saying she was “saddened by the loss of another innocent young woman on our streets.”
Campaigners have demanded action to tackle violence against women and London Mayor Sadiq Khan has called for misogyny to be made a hate crime following Ms Nessa’s murder.
Police believe the teacher left her home just before 8.30pm on the night she was killed and are investigating whether her attacker was a stranger.
Detectives continue to appeal for information about a man captured on CCTV on the night of the murder.

The clip shows the man looking over his shoulder and putting up his hood up outside a block of flats in Pegler Square.
A 38-year-old man arrested in connection with her murder has been released under investigation.
DCI Neil John, from the Met’s specialist crime command, said: “We want to thank those who have shared our image appeal over the last 24 hours. It has gained a huge amount of coverage and we are extremely grateful for the public’s help.
“We are now a week on from Sabina’s murder and while we have made good progress with our investigation we must keep this appeal for information going and encourage anyone who has any information to come forward.”
A post-mortem examination carried out on September 20 was inconclusive.
