Russia vs Denmark - LIVE!

There were memorable scenes in Copenhagen on Monday after an unforgettable night at Euro 2020.

Denmark beat Russia 4-1 at the Parken Stadium, which, coupled with Belgium’s 2-0 win over Finland in Saint Petersburg, was enough for Kasper Hjulmand’s side to reach the last 16 as runners-up in Group B.

Group A runners-up Wales now await the Danes in a tasty knockout clash in Amsterdam on Saturday evening.

Denmark got a stellar strike in each half against Russia from Mikkel Damsgaard and Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen, while Yussuf Poulsen and Joakim Maehle also struck late to provoke wild celebrations among the passionate home crowd.

Russia were simply blown away after initially reducing the deficit to 2-1 courtesy of Artem Dzyuba’s penalty after Jannik Vestergaard had fouled substitute Aleksandr Sobolev.

Making the last 16 against the odds is a superb achievement by Denmark with everything they have had to endure over recent weeks, with star player Christian Eriksen suffering a cardiac arrest on the pitch in their opening match against Finland.

Eriksen was discharged from hospital on Friday after a successful operation to fit a heart-starting device and he paid a surprise visit to his team-mates as they built up to the clash with Russia.
