Model and The Bright Side founder Rocky Barnes is a first-time mother. So not only has she been through it, she’s still going through it.

Whether it’s using fashion as postpartum self-care or building a mom-approved comfortable wardrobe, she’s figuring it all out. Barnes welcomed her son Jones into the world in early 2020 and now she’s sharing the products she couldn’t live without during his first year.

“The first year of motherhood, obviously, is a huge transition,” Barnes said. “So these are my favorite new mom hacks that you will be living with the first year.”

1. The Baby Brezza Formula Pro

Barnes described the Baby Brezza as a “Keurig for formula.” It uses patented technology to automatically mix formula and water to create the ideal consistency. It even works with almost all formula brands and bottle types.

“You don’t have to worry about counting the scoops. You literally press a button and it makes the bottle perfectly heated for you,” Barnes said.

2. The Dreamland Baby Co. Dream Weighted Sack

The Dream Weighted Sack is designed to make your little one feel a sense of calm so that they fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.

“This was one of my favorite things,” Barners said. “The weighted sleep sack is so great. I definitely nailed swaddling Jones during the day but at night he would definitely start to get a little wiggly. Having something like a velcro swaddle was key.”

3. Magnetic Me Onesie

New moms are pretty much always busy, this easy-access Magnetic Me onesie will help free up some time.

“You will appreciate the fact that you just hold the onesie together and then it snaps together with magnets. As opposed to doing 25 individual little buttons throughout the day,” she remarked.

4. The DockATot

The DockATot is a multifunctional docking station for diaper changes, lounging and cuddling. It’s supposed to mimic the feeling of being in a womb so it’s super comforting for infants.

“Jones pretty much lived in the DockATot,” Barnes said. “Even as your kid gets older and bigger they can have little hangouts in the living room with their like toddler size.”

5. The Lovevery Play Kits

The new mom praised the Lovevery Play Kits, a subscription service that ships brand new toys directly to your home every two to three months. The classic wooden toys are eco-friendly and Lovevery’s shipping is totally carbon neutral. Just plug in your child’s age and get toys that match their stage.

“I love how chic the toys are,” Barnes said. “All the toys are based on your baby’s developmental age. So having something new and exciting to play with your baby with and not having to think about it is definitely something I look forward to as well.”
