Yahoo Finance The richest postcode in every state
Residents of NSW’s Palm Beach, the Northern Territory’s Alyangula, and South Australia’s Unley Park all lead different lives but they have one thing in common: they have the juiciest paypackets in their home state.
The Australian Tax Office has released its tax statistics for 2016 and 2017, revealing the highest earning postcodes in each state and territory.
Taking home the most in the country are residents of postcode 2108 in New South Wales (Coasters Retreat, Currawong Beach, Great Mackerel Beach and Palm Beach), who earn an average $230,330.

At the other end of the spectrum, residents of 7258 in Tasmania (Breadalbane, Relbia and White Hills) earn an average $68,621 – significantly less than their counterparts in New South Wales, but still the most in their state.
And that postcode is tiny, with only 571 people.

Where are the country’s wealthiest postcodes?
Looking by country, rather than state, the postcodes with the largest taxable income are all in New South Wales and Victoria.
The Darling Point and Edgecliff area of Sydney (2027) was previously the suburb with the highest average taxable income for seven years.
But New South Wales is also home to postcode 2308 (Newcastle University and Callaghan) which had the lowest average taxable income of $20,589.
That’s followed by 4611 in Queensland, covering Marshlands and Mondure where the average taxable income was $23,225. Queensland was also home to five of the 10 suburbs with the lowest average taxable income in Australia.
